Selected UP Mindanao personnel took the five-day Linang workshop facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Administration (OVPA) from February 3-7, 2025. Linang is a learning and development program that aims to cultivate dynamic relationships, social responsibility, appropriate behaviors, and quality of work for the University and the community by equipping employees with the needed knowledge, mindset, attitude, and skills in enhancing professional expertise, employee management, and effective service delivery. The program will run from 2024-2026. The participants assembled at the CHSS Cultural Center facade for documentation on Day 1. Chancellor Murao, in her opening remarks, said, “The Linang workshop is proof that our UP System is all out in giving support to all constituent universities to all campuses because the big dream for all UP constituent universities is growth and development, and of importance, alongside our projects and programs, is our people, the root of our growth and development. That is why we need to build the capacities of our people, continue to build on our relationships with each other, and continue to build a community that is in harmony and aligned towards our shared goals. There are many opportunities coming up for UP Mindanao, and it is now up to us—my colleagues in UP Mindanao—to seize those opportunities and build a winning team for UP Mindanao. You are part of our team, and I want everyone to be winners. I want everyone to grow in what they are working on and grow with each other, and this Linang workshop is one instrument we can all use to achieve that. I hope that the body will take this opportunity seriously—but have fun while doing it. This is important because this is towards building a healthy community, a responsive community, and an accountable community for UP Mindanao.”
Kamakailan inilunsad natin ang UP Strategic Plan 2023 2029 na may temang “Transformative university in the service of the nation,” na mga pangunahing mapanghamon at makabuluhang flagship program ng ating administrasyon. Ito ay ang mga sumusunod: academic excellence, inclusive admission, research and innovation, open and distance learning, archipelagic and oceanic university, active and collaborative partnerships, arts and culture, expansion of public service offices, quality management and quality assurance, and digital transformation.
President Jimenez detailed Linang as three training series. The first is the Relationship Operations and Sensitivity Enhancement Seminar or ROSES. Second, Work Attitude, and Value Enhancement Seminar, or WAVES. And the third, Completed Staff Work, or CSW, as an effective tool for decision making and management. He included the Introduction to Training of Trainers, “kung saan tayo ay hahasain upang paano isagawa ang bawat serye sa ating mga tanggapan upang mas mapalawak ang tagumpay ng mga programa,” he said.
