UP Mindanao strengthens Regional Academic ties through MOU with Universitas Komputer Indonesia

The University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Mindanao) formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) in a hybrid signing ceremony held on Tuesday, 13 January 2026. The signing was facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, led by Consul General Agus Trenggono.
The MoU marks an important step in UP Mindanao’s efforts to expand international academic partnerships, particularly within the BIMP-EAGA subregion. The collaboration focuses on strengthening cooperation in information technology, digital innovation, research, and academic exchanges, aligned with UP Mindanao’s mandate to contribute to regional development and human capital formation.
UP Mindanao was represented by Chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni E. Murao, together with VC for Academic Affairs Ma. Stella Salazar, OIC for Research Prof. Jonathan Cagas, and UPMin International Linkages Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dennis John Sumaylo and Staff. Universitas Komputer Indonesia was represented by Prof. Dr. Zainal Arifin Hasibuan, Vice Rector IV for Digital Technology, ICT International Programs, and Centers of Excellence.
In her message, Chancellor Murao highlights the value of international collaboration in advancing UP Mindanao’s academic and research agenda, particularly partnerships that deepen regional connectivity and shared development goals between Indonesia and the Philippines.
Consul General Agus Trenggono expressed his support for the partnership and commended both institutions for their commitment to fostering cross-border academic cooperation, noting the role of education in strengthening Indonesia–Philippines relations, especially in Mindanao.
