UP Mindanao officials and personnel assemble weekly in the Administration Building Atrium, face the east where the flags are located and renew their allegiance to the republic and the university in the flag ceremony.
However, during the April 2025 period, construction activities in the Atrium have compelled the personnel to assemble at the Atrium south wing, obscuring the flags from view. It has become necessary to bring out a second set of flags from inside the building for the ceremony.
In addition, the flag ceremony has become a platform to announce updates and celebrate various occasions. On April 7, 2025, the Department of Human Kinetics informed the assembly of the World Day for Physical Activity and allowed students to lead the constituents through a routine of physical exercises for exertion and relaxation.
Also, on the first Monday of each month, a cluster of offices provide a modest pastry and beverage offering for personnel fellowship after the assembly. On April 7, 2025, the offering was augmented with hot arroz caldo.
Recently, as well, the Civil Service Commission has directed public sector personnel to wear Filipiniana attire on selected days. Consequently, UP Mindanao personnel have complied with this directive and embraced it wholeheartedly.
