Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao welcomed the Filinvest Development Corporation team who visited UP Mindanao for the first time on March 12, 2025, following the asynchronous signing of a memorandum of agreement between the two parties in October of 2024. Being their first meeting, the visiting group introduced their corporation and industry involvements and named some UP Mindanao graduates presently working with them. In the meeting, the participants exchanged ideas and, after the meeting, deepened their acquaintance in a fellowship.
The Filinvest team was led by Senior Sourcing Manager Irene Esquillo, who had marshalled the agreement to fruition, and accompanied by Ms. Weng Aguinaldo and Criselle de Guzman, both UP alumnae, and Ms. Erme Angella Cunanan, from the Davao office.
UP Mindanao Legal Officer Atty. Charmaine Valentin, UP Mindanao Alumni Association (UPMinAA) president Krishna Balaga and her staff member Cherry Joy Castanos facilitated the meeting with the chancellor.
In their sit-down meeting, Chancellor Murao expressed her appreciation for the visit and gratitude to Filinvest for selecting UP Mindanao as an institutional partner. She welcomed and expressed support for further engagements arising from their agreement.
The memorandum of agreement states for Filinvest to actively engage with UP Mindanao students and alumni through events that foster professional growth and development, exchange of industry insights and expertise, career development through mentorship, internships, and recruitment, support for varsity sports, and other collaborative projects. To date, Filinvest is a sponsor of the upcoming UPMinAA homecoming in June with more engagements to follow.
UP Mindanao, for its part, need only to accommodate Filinvest’s participation in campus professional development programs and produce graduates who could consider career opportunities with Filinvest.
