UP Student Regent Francesca Duran was in UP Mindanao on April 7 to 8, 2025, to engage with the UP Mindanao student leaders and hold talks with the UP Mindanao administration. UP Solidaridad National Chairperson Angeli Mari Rodenas accompanied her. On April 7, 2025, Regent Duran and Chairperson Rodenas listened to the student leaders’ ideas about their issues and concerns. In the afternoon, Regent Duran and Chair Rodenas participated in the students’ strategic planning workshop.
On April 8, 2025, Regent Duran and Chairperson Rodenas sat down with Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao and other university officials to discuss the students’ issues and concerns. UPMin University Student Council Chairperson Heroine Marish Fernandez also attended to facilitate the discussion. CHSS Student Council Chairperson Sheryn Kaye Villanueva and Himati student publication Editor-in-Chief AJ Lozano participated in the discussion. The topics included support for athletes in its various aspects, reading breaks and academic ease, dormitory facilities and occupancy of the new dormitory, guidance counseling and mental health, and the military presence on campus, to name a few. Both the students and the administration arrived at working agreements on all of the discussion items.
