The UP Mindanao Communicators Guild celebrated BACMA Week with the BACMA Week Workshops, held on 10-14 February 2025. The workshops aimed to sharpen the skills of BA Communication Arts and other students or professionals who wish to learn more about the communication arts. The first was the Technical Writing Workshop, held at the AVR on February 10, 2025. In the workshop, the participants learned the qualities of technical writing for communication by professionals within an organization or association, as imparted by Prof. Karen Joyce Cayamanda (sixth from left in the above photo) as the resource person.
The Writing Forum on the Basics of Creative Writing was held at Lorenzo Hall on February 11, 2025. Students and other participants tried exercises on writing outlines for fiction or poems and delivering lines from a drama. BA English alumna and Ugnayan ng Pahinungod staff Vhea Ghane Goso (above) spoke on creative writing and facilitated the practical tests.
The Basic Tutorial on Editing Softwares was the third of the BACMA Week Workshops, which covered Photoshop for beginners. Students tried creating publication materials such as posters and similar graphics, with guidance from Mr. OZ de Castro (above).
At the Hosting Workshop, which was held at the University Library Lemito Hall on February 13, 2025, the participants indulged in an interactive workshop, which consisted of exercises that trained participants’ voices and ability to connect with an audience or hosting partner with guidance from Lecturer Julius Neil Piala (above, center)
The last of the BACMA Week Workshops was the Photography Workshop, a well-attended workshop held at the Technology Hub in the Kalimudan area on February 14, 2025. Participants learned the basic concepts of photography, the parts of a camera, and interactive exercises on basic camera use, all from Instructor Maricon Montajes (above, at center).
