UPMin Shares Vision as Partner of 4th FRAMEwork

Prof. Karen Joyce Cayamanda bangs the ceremonial gong to open the 4th FRAMEwork

UP Mindanao Professor Karen Joyce Cayamanda stated that UP Mindanao’s BA Communication and Media Arts program shares the vision and objective of the 4th FRAMEwork conference, which was held at Cavite State University – Indang Campus on March 26 and 27, 2026.

“It is an honor to be part of his annual event, as an academic partner, where the primary objective is the meaningful integration of ideas from communication scholars across cultures,” she said. “UP Mindanao, specifically the BA Communication and Media Arts program, shares the vision and objective of FRAMEwork.”

She also expressed in her welcome message as UPMin’s representative her gratitude and appreciation to Far Eastern University for including UP Mindanao as one of the academic partners in the 4th FRAMEwork Asia Pacific Communication Conference since its inception in 2022. She also extended congratulations to Far Eastern University and Cavite State University for co-organizing this timely and relevant discussion and discourse on artificial intelligence. Consequently, she expressed enthusiasm for more years of collaboration and partnerships with the esteemed institutions that made the event possible.

The 4th FRAMEwork: Asia-Pacific Communication Conference posed the question, “Artificial Intelligence: Troubleshooter or a Troublemaker? “Parameters, Recalibrations, and Trajectories in AI-Aided Communication and New Media” was its theme, and addressed it in the two-day conference packed with research presentations, plenary talks, roundtable discussions, and special lectures.

UPMin Assistant Professor Merly Dawn Comidoy-Acol was a discussant in the Round Table Discussion #1 on the topic, “Creatives and Profits: Does Artificial Intelligence Sell?”

The UP Mindanao five-faculty delegation of paper presenters was composed of Prof. Karen Joyce G. Cayamanda, Asst. Prof. Merle Dawn Comidoy-Acol, and Instructors Stephanie Camille Hayag, Vanessa Joy Homez, and Jupiter Cabig, Jr. from the BACMA program.

The 4th FRAMEwork: Asia-Pacific Communication Conference is consolidated into the Asia-Pacific Journal of Communication. This year’s conference was organized by Far Eastern University Manila- Institute of Arts and Sciences Department of Communication, and co-hosted by the Cavite State University College of Arts and Sciences Department of Communication. Among the academic partners are the UP College of Media and Communication, the Komunikasi Atma Jaya, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication, the Philippine Association of Communication Educators, UP Mindanao, Visayas State University, the Asia Network for Public Opinion Research (ANPOR), the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, and Amity University (India).
