Paper on Chatbot for Enhancing Durian Knowledge Wins At AI Fest

Mr. Cahatian of UPMin’s AIDurian project receives his Best Paper prize at AI Fest 2025

Mr. Daniel John Cahatian’s paper presentation titled “Development of a Knowledge Base Chatbot for Enhancing Durian Knowledge on Durian Farm Practices in the Philippines” was awarded Best Research Paper in the recently concluded Artificial Intelligence Fest 2025 in Iloilo City on August 14, 2025.

Mr. Cahatian’s paper is a product of the project “AI-based Non-Invasive Grading System of Durian,” or AIDurian, and was authored by project specialists Jenno Fred Villarino, Marlon Maddara, Daniel John Cahatian, Dr. Vladimer Kobayashi, and Project Leader Dr. Armacheska Mesa-Satina.

The Artificial Intelligence Fest 2025 (AI Fest 2025) is a pioneer event organized by the Department of Science and Technology Region VI. Aside from the research competition, it featured a hackathon, a film festival, AI exhibits, and a technical conference.
