The All UP Academic Employees Union (AUPAEU) held its National Council meeting on April 10-12, 2025, at UP Mindanao with the theme, “Isulong ang Kabag-uhan: Unahon ang Unibersidad ug Katawhan!”
At this meeting, regular reports of the chapters on their activities, campaigns, and activities for the continuous advancement of the benefits, rights, and well-being of UP employees were presented. The meeting was also held to discuss important issues in the university and the country, such as the fight for regularization, wage increases, and other issues. Aside from discussions and reports, time was also set aside for the collective study of the country’s economic and political situation. The participants will also undergo a social immersion to learn about and understand the situation of some of the basic sectors of society. At the end of the meeting, it is expected that resolutions will be formulated that will serve as a guide for planning campaigns that will continue to protect the rights, welfare, and well-being not only of university employees and workers, but also of the general workforce in the country, particularly in the education sector.
“The presence of the Union has always been essential,” said Chancellor Murao in her welcome remarks. “You are not just partners in dialogue but co-creators of the university. Your advocacies, your vigilance, your calls for accountability—these are vital. And in a time when the public university faces shrinking budgets and increasing expectations, our unity becomes even more crucial,” she said.
