The government of the University of the Philippines System is vested in its Board of Regents as constituted by law.
The administration of the University and the exercise of its corporate powers are vested exclusively in the Board and, insofar as authorized by the Board, in the President of the University as well as in the Chancellors of the constituent universities.
The Board is composed of the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, who is ex officio Chairperson; the President of the University, who is Vice-Chairperson; the chairpersons of the Senate and House Committees on Education; the President of the UP Alumni Association; one representative each from the faculty, student body and the staff; and five other members appointed by the President of the Philippines, at least three of whom are alumni of the University.
The Secretary of the University concurrently serves as the Secretary of the Board of Regents.
