2021 ISKOLAR NG BAYAN 072221

If you are a Filipino public high school in Region 11 graduate who belongs to the Top Ten in your graduating class, you may apply for freshman admission to UP Mindanao, as provided by the Iskolar ng Bayan (INB) Law of 2014. Grantees are entitled to free college education when they register in UP.

UP Mindanao  will accept applications from SHS graduates who satisfy the following conditions: 
* Filipino citizen.
* Must have graduated from a PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL within REGION XI within not more than two (2) years prior to Academic Year 2021-2022
*Must provide a certification from the public high school principal of the rank of the applicant in the Top Ten graduates (Grade 12/rank should be based on the overall population of the school).
*Must be enrolling for the first time in college and has no credited previous college work.
* Must have obtained a rating of UPG 2.800 or better (the UP Mindanao minimum UPG eligibility) in the UP College Admission.

* Duly accomplished INB application form (https://bit.ly/3hW77bT)
* Certification that you belong to the OVERALL Top Ten of your school's SHS graduates, duly signed by the School Principal, stating your rank, with the school logo and dry-seal.
* Printed copy of the Notice from UP Office of Admissions indicating a UPG of 2.800 or better.
* Copy of SHS Form 137

CU CSFA deliberations August 5-9
UCSA confirmation  August 9-11
Release of Application Results August 12-15

John Bengan is a writer, translator, and professor at the Department of Humanities, University of the Philippines - Mindanao. Some of his authors appeared in Creation 6, Criticism Culture, Words Without Borders, and Cha: An Asian Literary Journal. He is also one of the editors of Ulirat: Best Contemporary Stories in Translation from the Philippines.

MovePH, Rappler’s civic engagement arm has been leading a series of fact-checking webinars in the time of coronavirus aimed at training participants to spot disinformation online and combat it. During the webinar, Ms. Raisa Serafica, Rappler’s head of civic engagement, will discuss the internet environment during the pandemic and Ms. Vernise Tantuco, Rappler’s researcher/writer, will discuss the fact-checking methodology. There will also be a Q&A session and a spot-check exercise.

Banwa: The Multidisciplinary Journal of UP Mindanao is now accepting papers for its Special Section on the Built Environment.
The Special Section hopes to contribute to the improvement of the Mindanaoan community through researches on fields such as architecture and engineering, urban planning and development, regional planning and development, sustainable design, and policies on the built environment.

The Architecture Student Council, the official course-based student organization of the BS Architecture in the University of the Philippines Mindanao, is currently organizing Architecture Week 2021 with the theme "Rethinking Architecture." On 23-25 March is the "Arki Through The Lens" photo contest on the theme "The impact of architecture on everyday life." On 24-26 March is the "Arklues For You" quiz contest. On 27 March is the "Arkilektyur Series" featuring architects Gerard Lico, Joan de Leon-Tabinas, and Ericson Europa.
